About Professor Sarah Jones

Sarah is a Professor of Education Innovation and has held multiple strategic leadership roles across universities.  She is currently Pro Vice Chancellor at University of Gloucestershire.

Sarah's practice and research sits within emerging technologies and the creative exploration of AI, VR and AR. Sarah's PhD defines the concept of 'storyliving' in immersive spaces and she has published extensively through journals and books within this space. Her immersive experiences have been shown at film festivals across the world and helped to define how narratives can be explored within alternate realities. Sarah has worked with the Royal Television Society, BFI, BBC within this space and  advised the UK Government on immersive technologies.  
 

As a future thinker on education innovation and practice, Sarah has led and successfully implemented range of institutional wide projects to improve the student experience for all. These include transforming curriculum to block delivery across an institution to establishing the HuffPost Centre for Journalism at BCU. In  2014, Sarah created the Global News Relay with students broadcasting around the world for twelve hours collaborating with other institutions in the US, India, Australia, Malaysia, Norway. This still continues nearly ten years on and is the subject of a forthcoming book on global collaborations by Routledge.

Sarah is  an Apple Distinguished Educator which puts her  among a group of global leading educators experimenting and utilising technology in the classrooms. She has worked with Google on a Digital News Initiative project, in collaboration with the Coventry Telegraph, building a VR game around the Blitz.  Sarah was also a Google Jump Creator to explore virtual production practices.

Sarah is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and previously served on the on the board of the Association of Journalism Educators. She has held multiple external roles at many institutions and external bodies including Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and the NCTJ.

Before academia, Sarah was  a correspondent and news anchor at ITV. I have won awards for my investigative and immersive reporting. In 2007, She spent a year on secondment to New York for GMTV following Presidential candidates on the campaign trail, even making a guest appearance in the first Sex and the City film.
